About Goa:
Goa is the Indian state which is known and regarded as an extremely popular tourist destination in India. History of Goa:
The history of Goa goes back to three thousand years back when the wandering India sage, Parasurama, who was trying to find an untouched land, took an arrow and shot it into the waves, which in turns brought out the new land, Goa.
Goa has got a very eventful history. Many India kingdoms fought over the place to establish their power. Bhojas in the 4th century was the first ruler to rule over Goa. Later on, Silahara Dynasty, Kadamba Dynasty, adn Hoysala ruled over this state. Then came the Portuguese regime. The Portuguese came here ruled the land. They destroyed many temples and built churches in place of those temples. They influence the culture of the land. Even these days, we can find the touch of Portuguese in Goa.
Geography and Climate:
The state of Goa has got an area of 3,702 square km. The most of the part of this coastal country is known as the Konkan. It is bordered by the state of Maharashtra on the north, the state of Karnataka on the the south and east. The vast Arabian Sea lies on its west forming the magnificent coastline for which the state Goa is famous for.
Being in the tropical zone and close to the Arabian Sea, Goa has a warm and humid climate throughout the year. The month of May is its hottest season when the temperatures go over 35 degree Celsius with high humidity. The monsoon usually arrive by early June. The mid-December to February is the winter season in Goa when the average day temperature lies around 29 degrees and in the night, it comes down to 20 degrees.
Transportation:
It you come down to the state by air, then you have to use the Dabolim Airport, the sole airport of Goa. Flights from different cities of India as well from abroad come to this airport regularly. On the other hand, the public transport of Goa largely depends upon privately operated buses. You can also hire un-metered taxis and auto rickshaws in the various cities of Goa.
Places of Tourist Attractions:
Though tourists visit the state of Goa throughout the year, the tourist season in Goa starts from the late September and carries on through early March. Goa has some exotic beaches to offer to the tourists. You can visit beaches like Miramar Beach, Calagute Beach, Baga Beach, Vagator Beach etc. The place also has some heritage architectures and churches also.
